Meet Emmi-Belle! She is our funny, mind blowingly amazing 6yr old who lives with autism. This blog is purely to give people an insight into our life with autism, the highs and the lows and the down right hilarious! We hope to spread some awareness of autism spectrum disorder. With awareness comes understanding and with understanding comes acceptance and thats all anyone really wants right? xx

Read MoreWith our first year of school comes our first ever cross country. The cross country is a race around the park next to the school where you compete against the other kids your age and win points for your house team. You have to follow the route mapped out with orange cones and make it to the finish line to finish the race. Emmi-Belle following a track and following a group??... I was very excited to see how this would all play out.

I cant explain how happy I am with the school we chose for Em. They have been simply amazing with us and her. She has a one on one teacher for the first month or so until she settles in, the two teacher aids have also worked a lot with ASD kids and her main teacher is a total sweetheart!
So many emotions are going through my body and mind! Im excited to see where this takes us, Im scared she will be scared, I'm happy she is going to a great school, I'm worried she won't be accepted. They don't know her like us, what if she needs to go to the toilet but doesn't know who to ask? What is she runs away when no one is looking? What if it's not for her???

Read MoreI still remember the look on the receptionists face as I dragged my screaming 2 year old through the door way of the paediatricians clinic, trying to juggle my nappy bag, an empty pram and the child that refused to sit in it. It was the type of look that said "not another one". The type of look that as a mother it makes you want to get all gangster up in her grill asking her things like "what chu looking at, aint you ever seen a tired 2 yr old before?"
